Brasenose College, University of Oxford

C&C worked for the University direct on this Project spanning 3 months which was led and managed by Bidwells Project Consultancy and Dan Thomas, their Project Manager.

Access was a major issue with this project worth approximately £400k. Due to Brasenose College being a listed building, all of the equipment had to be brought into site through a small single doorway into the building. The 6m long one piece cooking suite top had to be brought in sections and then fully welded and polished on site. The large Meiko dishwasher also had to be brought in sections and fully assembled on site, particular care and coordination had to be carried out with regards to access in general.

The consultant Kevin Barnes of The Peter Burholt Partnership is also happy with our performance and we have had regular contact with them regarding progress reports and site visits to gain a smooth handover. The client had specific needs with regards to staff training fitting around their current operation so we carried out five separate training sessions to suit their timescales.

The pipework installation on this project was quite unusual, we had to supply stainless steel water and waste pipework throughout which had to be sourced and supplied from Denmark to match the mechanical contractors requirements.

Due to the listed building restraints, there was a lot of coordination required with regards to the angled walls and low ceilings which could not be altered in any way. Some fabrication had to be templated on site to ensure a good fit and all had to be installed on site due to the access problems.
