Forget the Premiership battle; there was a score to settle amongst Chester’s top teams last week too in the Chester & District FA Senior Cup Final.

The match, sponsored by Chester’s own C&C Catering Equipment, had all the excitement you’d expect from a cup final with early goals, penalties and missed opportunities.  As ardent football fans, C&C Managing Director Peter Kitchin and son Matt were there to cheer on the teams and make the winning presentation.

Blacon took an early lead with a Jamie Rodgers penalty; Christleton came back mid-way through the first half with a Ronnie Morgan free kick. Blacon were awarded another penalty in the 3rd min of the second half, but the dependable Jamie Rodgers sent it over the bar. The game was then very even until the Blacon captain Aden Shannon struck a sweet volley on 60 mins to give them the advantage. He then got his second 5 minutes later to take the game away from Christleton.

Final result: Blacon Youth 3 v Christleton 1

On the game Peter said, “We’re big football fans at C&C, the whole team are split between supporting Manchester United and Liverpool and so sponsoring local clubs and matches is something we are passionate about.  It was a great match here tonight with both teams creating chances.  It reminds us that lower division football can be just as exciting as the top flight and we’re proud to support local, amateur teams.”

Peter made the winning presentation along with Chester FC midfielder Ashley Williams who is also sponsored by C&C Catering Equipment Ltd.  Blacon skipper Aden Shannon was awarded the Man of the Match by C&C.
