The high-end beauty brand relocated its UK & Ireland headquarters to the stunning new 1 Fitzroy Place building in the Fitzrovia district of central London. Sole tenants of the 144,000 sq ft property, Estee Lauder has moved all its London employees, as well as their education facilities, to the new location. With so many personnel to accommodate, catering facilities spanning three floors were required. This included a lower ground level servery and kitchen, a pantry on level one and a coffee bar and pantry on level eight.
C&C were awarded the scheme by BW. The complex fit-out had one of C&C’s tightest completion to client handover windows of just four days. Our partners such as Britannia, EAIS, Essex, Gram, Lainox and Winterhalter, all featured across the various catering stations in the building.
Working with Stuart Timms and Caroline Marten of Tricon on the fit-out and refurbishment, C&C’s team, headed-up by Installation Director Mark Roxburgh, faced a big challenge whilst on site concerning part of the building’s drainage system. When the team arrived at the install stage on the lower ground floor, they found there was no gravity drainage in position due to a lack space under the slab. The client didn’t want to use any pumped waste so a work-around had to be found. Not easily fazed, our guys worked with Tricon, under an extremely tight timescale, to re-design the drainage system to meet the wishes of the client whilst minimising drainage locations.
The project was completed and handed over in the specified timescale and the building opened for business in November 2015. Commenting on the project, Paul Parry said, “It was a very challenging project to work on but the end results make it all worth it.”
