We have completed the design, supply and installation of a new café at Leighton Hospital near Crewe.

The project, where we worked in partnership with the NHS, is valued at approximately £90k and was completed with an accelerated installation window of just 3 days from the original week we were given. The job was completed on time and on budget leaving an extremely happy client.

Mandy Cartmill from the Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Trust touched upon how successful the new Café Express has been to the hospital, with an “increase in footfall that far exceeded the Hospital & Catering team’s expectations”.

The café features Counterline chilled displays, counters and fabrication. It also boasts Foster Refrigerators, Merrychef ‘Eikon’ Ovens and Hobart Warewashing equipment.  The choice of equipment is befitting to the hospital’s brief of offering a ‘grab-and-go’ catering service for its often time-pressed staff, visitors and patients. Numerous chilled displays dominate a large section of the café allowing customers to easily view and access the foods they want and proceed to the checkout area with minimal fuss. Quick hot food options are also made available via the Merrychef ‘Eikon’ Ovens.

“We’re delighted to have completed another successful project with the National Health Service,” said our Project Manager Keith Hartharn.  “We’re pleased to hear the new café has been so well received and is already enjoying increased sales. There’s no better stamp of approval than that!”

The main contractor for this project was a local firm Red Tree Building Contractors. The new 80-seater catering facility at Leighton Hospital was part of a wider refurbishment to the building’s main entrance which now boasts an all-glass façade. Following the project, the area also features a new shop, reception, toilet facilities and an ATM machine.

Leighton Hospital has invested heavily in their facilities in recent years including 8 new operating theatres, 14 critical care units and a new neonatal unit.  Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Trust which runs the hospital was named as one of the best in the country for the third running in 2014 and is ranked amongst the top 40 hospitals in the UK.
