We have started work on the first of two projects for the University of Liverpool.
Finsbury Square London is perhaps not the first place that C&C had in their mind when they were awarded a project for the University of Liverpool but that is where they are now, working with main contractors Overbury and consultants The Russell Partnership on the University’s London campus.
C&C were awarded the £140,000 installation project to provide catering facilities across multiple floors of the historic 1930’s building in London. These include a cold room and freezer room together with new food storage facilities in the basement; a servery area on the ground floor and a seventh floor kitchen and dishwashing area.
A special feature of the scheme is the unique servery counters that are “monolithic” in style and have satin polished stainless steel worktops and fascia panels. Access is also going to be a challenge with all the equipment needed for higher floor levels having to be lifted initially to the first floor before being transferred to an external hoist to take them to the seventh floor.
During break periods, people working on the site will also have the chance to help a great cause – the Make a Wish foundation. The Overbury team had the novel idea that by setting aside a breakout room with pool tables and other paid amusements for project workers to enjoy; all proceeds raised could go to the charity. With a target of £6000, C&C’s staff have been more than happy to contribute during their time on site.
The second project for the University is to provide production facilities, student bars, food service areas and a café at the Student’s Union buildings in Liverpool and will be completed later this year.
