In terms of business 2012 has certainly been a year of education for C&C Catering Equipment, as we celebrate completing yet another college kitchen installation at London’s South Bank University.
Our task at London South Bank Uni was to provide a stylish new student servery area called ‘Grads Café’ at the Student Centre. The café is located on the upper floor where there is a mixture of seating styles from booths to bench style tables. It is open to students, staff and visitors.
The counters are finished to the highest standard with granite worktops, stainless steel fascia panels and stainless steel kickplinths. The stainless steel fascia panels are further enhanced by LED lighting fitted to the underside of the trayslide giving a modern feel to the servery both during service period but also during times when it’s not in use but can be seen as a stylish feature in the background.
The servery comprises a Main ‘U’ Shaped Counter with a chilled patisserie display, chilled salad well, soup tureens and beverage equipment. There is also an Island Counter with a further refrigerated well accessed from three sides. The remaining counters are for cash and beverages. Along the rear wall there are two Counterline Experience Units, one heated and one chilled as well as ambient display shelving.
The preparation kitchen area is very traditional in that it accommodate various section of bespoke fabrication, refrigerated storage units, dishwash facilities and cooking facilities by way of paninni grills, microwave ovens and induction hobs.
The café offers a range of hot and cold hand-held snacks, fresh soup, salad bar and deli bar. A range of hot and cold drinks is also available including Costa coffee.
Stephen Hackett, Director of Student Services said, “It was a great opening week, students piled in from day one and the upstairs café area was an instant success.”
