It was another year of double success for C&C Catering Equipment Ltd at this year’s ceda Conference.

The Chester-based specialist kitchen contractors were recognised in two award categories; Design Project Under £100k and Project Management Excellence. Both accolades were presented during the Grand Prix Awards gala dinner on Thursday 8th June at St George’s Park in Burton on Trent. The awards celebrate the exceptional design, project management, installation and customer service carried out by member companies during 2022. The Grand Prix Awards are highly regarded in the catering equipment industry, and are presented in front of a packed house of colleagues and peers, prominent industry figures and fellow award winners.

The Design Project Under £100K award was for Cook for Good, a community kitchen project in King’s Cross, London. The social enterprise aims to build confidence, connections and communities through food. The community hub repurposed a disused cafe into a state-of-the-art facility, and with C&C Catering Equipment’s help, they have commercial catering equipment to match.

Karen Mattison from Cook for Good was delighted with C&C’s support. She said, “In large part because of Mark (Roxburgh, C&C’s Installations Director) and his commitment to our social values and purpose, we have now got a teaching and production kitchen that anyone would be proud of – not just other social enterprises and charities. Mark ensured that while this was a pro-bono project, we felt at all times like a paying customer. He listened to our brief, helped explain the technical side of the design, and advocated on our behalf to other suppliers and contractors. We remain hugely appreciative of Mark and C&C for making our dream of an amazing kitchen in a social housing estate a reality.”

The Project Management Excellence award was for House of Koko, a state-of-the-art live music venue in Camden London, spanning 50,000 square feet. Following the completion of the main project works, C&C built a good relationship with the client and they have come for more repeat work within the building. There have been a number of small projects, or additional items of equipment needed, something the client has come to C&C directly for.

Of C&C’s work, Andreas Engberg, Executive Chef at House of Koko said, “Although C&C were a contractor on site, they supported us as a client at Koko very well throughout the handover process, reacting to any issues we may have had, and providing us with some additional items of equipment at short notice to assist us with our set up and operation as the site gradually became live. Some of these items of equipment required small design works to suit us as the clients requirements, but nothing seemed too much of a hassle for them.

“Keith (Hartharn, C&C Project Director) is our contact and has provided us with good service throughout the process and is still very much involved as support with any issues we may have, or indeed additional equipment or small projects that we sometimes have at Koko as it continues to develop.”

C&C Catering Equipment MD, Peter Kitchin collected the awards in person at the Awards night and was delighted with the wins. He said, “It is always great to be shortlisted for the ceda awards and it is an absolute honour to win them. Thanks to the judges Iain and Nick – and to Paul Parry, Mark Roxburgh and Keith Hartharn for making it all happen. The C&C team are all delighted with the double win.”
