“We are delighted with the finished project at Google’s London offices. There have been some challenges over the two years, which are to be expected on such a large scheme, but overcoming them to work on such an impressive project has been very rewarding, and a great learning experience for our two young Project Managers Alex and Milan.”

Work on the revolutionary project was approximately two years in duration due to the sheer size of the scheme, with initial tasks including BIM execution and an evolving drawing package. Facilities ranged in styles and were split over several floors, from the Lower Basement up to Level 11, with main cooking areas on Level 1, Level 8, and Level 11.

As well as traditional staff eating areas, the forward thinking organisation also wanted to deliver brand new concepts to the UK workplace, including bringing Dutch concept La Place over to Britain. In order to fully understand the concept and create the best facility, Projects Director Paul Parry flew to the Netherlands to visit six La Place locations in under 12 hours earlier in the year. A number of fabricators were used from the Netherlands to create an authentic La Place experience on Level 1, allowing the restaurant to provide its sustainably and locally sourced food, made from 100% natural ingredients.

Additionally, a training kitchen area, Kitchen Sync, was provided on Level 11 for employee well-being and personal development purposes. The concept allows Google to support its staff in enhancing their cooking and kitchen skills, and therefore creates a more empowered workforce in all areas of their day-to-day lives.

Diversity was also a key element of the Google project, with C&C installing equipment to allow the offering of dishes from around the world, including facilities for live Asian cooking, handmade pizzas, and fresh salads for a variety of preferences. With catering facilities to support a large selection of international dishes, Google is able to provide its culturally diverse team with special food items from all corners of the globe.

To compliment the main food areas, stations providing fresh smoothies and juices were also installed to allow the company to offer healthy, nourishing and made to order options to its staff. Impressive Micro Kitchens were also installed by C&C, which were required to match the standard of gourmet locations and would later be managed by professional Baristas.

With many members of the C&C team working on the project, this truly was a group effort to ensure the scheme was delivered to the highest of standards at the innovative site of the internet giant.

Installations Director Mark Roxburgh commented, “We are delighted with the finished project at Google’s London offices. There have been some challenges over the two years, which are to be expected on such a large scheme, but overcoming them to work on such an impressive project has been very rewarding, and a great learning experience for our two young Project Managers Alex and Milan.”

Projects Director Paul Parry added, “To be part of such a prestigious and forward thinking scheme has been an incredible experience and we are very proud of our work at the project. Google is a name we are delighted to feature once again on our growing list of renowned international organisations, having provided works at two previous sites.”
