John MundyOn top of creating and installing superb contract kitchen installations C&C Catering Equipment’s Drawing Operator, John Mundy has been burning the midnight fuel studying hard for a Master of Science (MSc) degree in International Hospitality Design and Management Consultancy.

Due to his busy workload distance learning John undertook the degree via distance learning. John explains, “I was one of a dozen students from the industry which undertook this 3 year course which was devised by CEDA, FCSI and Sheffield Business School.”

This degree was designed to answer the need for a professional qualification for members of the industry. The FCSI (UK&I) were concerned that there was no such thing available both in the UK and worldwide specially intended for Design and Management Consultants or employees of Equipment Suppliers and Distributors. Working with CEDA, it was agreed to commission an MSc and a pan industry Education Foundation was set up by the two organisations to fulfil this need which could also be applicable to consultants working within the contract catering industry. The course itself is made up of a number of modules on different aspects of the industry including:

• E-business strategy

• Hospitality Information Communication Technology

• Hospitality Service Analysis and Development

• Catering Design

• Business Equations and Financial Analysis

• Hospitality Project Management

• International Hospitality Architectural Design

• Managing Innovation and Change in Hospitality

• Hospitality Management Consultancy

John describes the course as, “Challenging, but a fantastic experience. This degree has greatly improved my understanding, judgement and knowledge of what we do will certainly help me drive C&C Catering forward in 2013.”
