On an inspirational night at the famous Belfry Hotel & Spa, ceda once again celebrated the achievements of many of the leading figures in the catering equipment industry.
And this year we are delighted to say that our Managing Director, Peter Kitchin, was one of the worthy recipients of the prestigious Legacy Honours by ceda awards. Earlier in the evening Peter had had the pleasure of introducing and presenting an award to his good friend and colleague John Whitehouse CFSP, Managing Director of First Choice Group but it was a total surprise to Peter when the fifth and final award of the evening saw his own name being announced.
The Legacy Honour was presented by Peter Galliford, Director of Mechline who outlined his friend’s rise from his first role as a waiter in a Little Chef to become the MD of one of the country’s leading commercial kitchen design & installation companies. As well as recounting Peter’s career and professional success, Galliford’s presentation speech was deeply personal and highlighted Peter’s passions, personality and values. He said,
“Peter is a loving family man, and last weekend became a Grandad for the first time. Well done to new mum Jess and dad Russ. And, I know how thrilled Peter is.
“Peter is often recognised in various industry Top 100 lists, to recognise his and the businesses achievements – most recently, as an ‘Influencer’ of significance.
“But if asked about what Peter is most proud of – it is not the schemes, the high-profile projects, the awards, the profitability and balance sheet, the fact that C&C are recognised as an industry leading business from such small beginnings, very nice as they are. It’s that C&C remains very much a family business with family values – especially and significantly with Matt and Jess, his children, very much now involved in the business.
“Peter is also a big believer in hiring young people, hungry at the start of their working lives, mentoring and encouraging and promoting from within whenever possible – and this has paid huge dividends.
“Peter is rightly proud that there are multiple employees, especially senior management and directors who have worked at C&C over 20 and 30 years. His loyalty, care and dedication to people within the business is through great personal example. That Peter has many clients who become friends, is complete testimony to his personal attention, passion and desire to deliver the best possible service – however big or small the need. And simply doing the ‘right’ thing.
“True to say that John and Enid Kitchin’s beliefs and values very much live on.”
Commenting on the award Peter said “I heard the first few words on the speech and I thought – that’s me! It was a total shock but I’m absolutely delighted to have received it. It is especially poignant given my father John Kitchin also received a (then named) ceda Industry Personality Award in 2009, which I presented to him. To join him, and the many other industry stalwarts, on this prestigious list is a true Honour”
The C&C Group have thrived under Peter’s leadership but still very much remain a family business with customer service at the core of everything we do.
Peter was delighted to sit between son Matthew and Peter Kay of ceda, who was Peter’s right hand man when he was Chairman, when the award was presented.
Congratulations Peter, from all at The C&C Group – it is very well deserved!
