After Nanhoron Arms hotel in Gwynedd, Wales, suffered significant damage following a major fire, C&C Catering Equipment were called in to replace and re-design for this challenging project.

The intense heat from the blaze, triggered by a gas leak during a routine cleaning, caused the kitchen ceiling to collapse, ruining all equipment in the area. Additionally, extensive smoke damaged an extraordinary volume of space in the back of house areas. As soon as it was confirmed that, fortunately, there were no injuries or major structural damages, C&C were on hand to create a new kitchen for the welsh hotel.

Detailed industry knowledge was required in order to identify damaged equipment as faceplates had melted off due to the extreme heat from the fire. C&C’s Project Coordinator Steven Brophy applied his knowledge and experience to the task, recognising details and sizes to distinguish all equipment pieces.

As well as replacing the damaged kit, C&C Catering Equipment also re-designed the areas to improve the flow, including creating a more efficient pastry area (which had been suffocated by an oversized and under-used coldroom), separating preparation areas, and improving the amount of storage through careful planning above and below the counter top.

Before any equipment was fitted, careful project management required a number of key items to be delivered early in order to enable the hotel to offer breakfast to its guests. This largely including Hobart successfully pulling their normal lead time to meet the required opening date.

C&C’s Steven Brophy commented, “It was an unfortunate incident for Nanhoron Arms, and we were keen to apply our industry expertise to create a new kitchen area for the hotel. There were certainly many challenges along the way due to the unique circumstances concerning the fire damage, making the end result and success even more satisfying. We pulled together and were delighted to complete the project in the incredibly tight period and meet the required opening date.”

Professional projects through replacement and redesign…. We make it happen.
