We are proud to have recently completed works at the stunning Ynyshir Hall in mid Wales. Set in beautifully landscaped grounds and boasting a Michelin starred restaurant, it’s no surprise the Ynyshir picked up the 2014 – 2015 Welsh hotel of the year award and was ranked amongst the top 12 best luxury hotels in the UK.
Our team were briefed with the design, supply and installation for the planned kitchen extension and upgrade. Working closely with Gareth Ward, Ynyshir Hall’s Michelin star head chef, we came up with a drastic redesign to completely eclipse the existing catering facility.
We were awarded the supply and install of the new equipment during October 2014 and work commenced on site from a building perspective in December 2014. This involved the removal of existing walls, floors and the incorporation of a completely new area for the chefs table.
We were also tasked with supplying a new heavy duty resin floor, PVC and stainless steel wall cladding and suspended ceilings, all of which was sequenced around the building works that was carried out by local building firm Andrew Lewis Construction. Time was a major factor and deadlines were tight, scheduling all delivery, installation and commissioning of catering equipment in the hotel’s January 2015 shutdown period. The completion of the project was ready for opening on 12th February 2015 and our team carried out inspection, handover and training the week before on Friday 6th February which went exceptionally well.
Along with the core building works we supplied the dish wash area, full ventilation system including supply air, extract and gas fired heating, Rational 5 senses 10 grid combination oven, a Falcon compact combination oven, a range of Adande refrigeration and Foster walk-in cold and freezer rooms. The highlight of the kitchen for head chef Gareth Ward is the bespoke Athanor cooking suite with integrated induction, which allows for improved efficiency, precise temperature controls and a better working environment. We matched the Athanor cooking suite with a range of bespoke fabrication to complete the look of the whole kitchen, making it one of, if not the best kitchen in Wales.
Gareth commented, “I love it! The design allows for a much more comfortable working environment for the team and the flow is excellent, this means we can be more productive. C&C have been excellent from start to finish and the project has been handled extremely well, I couldn’t ask any more of them.”
Mrs Reen, Owner of Ynyshir Hall added, “The kitchen is perfect, it’s stunning and you can’t get better than that.”
