Following a challenging training regime and a few unexpected injuries, C&C’s Jack Phillips is pleased to have completed the Rotterdam Marathon in memory of his late best friend, Will, who sadly passed away after a second battle with cancer at age 24.
Part of the team of 16 runners, Jack managed to complete the marathon in an impressive 4 hours 59 minutes, despite tearing tendons in his knee just 10 weeks prior to the big event. Importantly, the team raised awareness for cancer relief charity CLIC Sargent and a staggering £15,514 (and counting).
After completing the marathon, Jack commented, “It was great to run the marathon for Will, especially since he completed it last year himself. It was hard and there were moments when I didn’t think I could finish it with my knee injury, and in the 24c heat, but having the memory of Will kept me going. We are so proud to have raised awareness for a charity that was so important to Will, and to have raised over £15,500 so far is incredible. Thank you to everyone who has generously donated to this valuable charity, we really appreciate it.”
